Welcome Freshers 2014 – Dates for your Diary

Congratulations to all of you lucky enough to be joining us in less than a month! Information about several important events for freshers and returners alike can be found below. Looking forward to seeing lots of new faces, see you at Freshers Fair!

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY:

These are provisional dates/times for LUEC events taking place in the first few weeks of Christmas Term.

Thursday 2nd October – Freshers Fair Part 1, Great Hall and LICA Building.
Come along and register your interest in joining the club, have a chat with members of the exec and get any questions answered. This will be followed by an intro talk later in the week (exact time/place to follow). Here all prospective members can apply for a place in the club and find out full details regarding what it means to be part of LUEC. Further information about trying out for the team and lesson trials will also be provided.

Wednesday 8th October, 13:00 – Team Trials
All those wishing to try out for our A and B teams will meet at 1pm in George Fox car park to travel to Eccleston Equestrian Centre. Riders will have a short period of time to ride several horses on the flat and over jumps before our captain selects the most competent riders to join the team. Those that don’t make the team are still very welcome to apply to join the lessons.

Wednesday 15th October, 13:00 – Lesson Trials
Students that were successful in applying to join the lessons will meet at 1pm in George Fox car park to travel to Beaumont Grange Riding Stables. Riders will get a taste of the weekly lessons that take place throughout the year as well as being evaluated by the instructors to ensure that all riders are at a safe and competent level in all three gaits.

ROSES  May 2nd-4th 2014!

Lancaster Equestrian Club is ready….Are you?

Lancaster University is currently preparing for the 50th Anniversary of the annual Roses competition when sports teams from both Lancaster and York University battle it out to see who wins the coveted Roses title.

The teams are in preparation with weekly training lessons at their stables and have been gearing up for this moment all year!

The Roses competition is the biggest varsity in Europe and the 50th anniversary is set to be the best yet!

Term 1 and 2 Lesson Timetables

Within the lessons this year, we have added a more organised timetable so that members know what they will be learning each week. We have also made the lessons even more exciting by adding in friendly competitions after the dressage lessons and jumping lessons. The timetable for lessons is as follows:

Term 1:

Week 1 – Team Trials
Week 2 – Lesson Trials
Week 3 – Balance and Ride
Week 4 – Dressage Lesson
Week 5 – Dressage Competition
Week 6 – Jumping Lesson
Week 7 – Jumping Lesson

Week 10 – Gymkhana Games Competitions

We have many exciting socials and events planned for you all this year and we hope to see you all at the events when possible. It’s a new year!

Welcome back for another year at University! Returning members and potential new freshers, we will be in LICA for Freshers Fair between 12pm-5pm on Thursday 3rd October, so come along and sign up for another amazing year with LUEC! If you can’t make the fair then send us an email or FB us and we will tell you all of the relevant information.

New Stables

As most of you aware lessons have now moved to Beaumont Grange stables and the feedback from the lessons has been great! We’ve got a jumping lesson planned for you all this week and we’re currently organising a mounted games competition for the end of term.

For those who haven’t tried out the new stables, book yourself onto a lesson as it will be a great break from revision!

We hope to see many of you involved in the new stables and the riding socials we have planned for you.
